On this occasion, we would like to introduce you to our colleague, Project coordinator in the Radio Networks Sector at RNC Solutions Germany, who was happy to answer a few questions for us.
| Can you tell us more about your position in the company?
I’m working as a Construction manager and Project Coordinator, and I am responsible for 55 rooftop projects and a few tower projects. My job is to make the first site visit, check the applicability of the project, and if it is not suitable, to make alternative suggestions. During the same site visit, I also check the site’s compliance with occupational health and safety.
What it’s like to be a woman in the engineering industry? In addition to many advantages, it can also have drawbacks. Sometimes taking direction from a woman can become an ego problem. The important thing here is to be self-confident and to be able to communicate with the right language. This is a situation we face as women. On the other hand, I have noticed that when a woman comes to the field, there is a higher level of kindness. So there is a balance. So, it balances each other out.
What’s an example of a mistake or failure that you experienced, and what did you learn from It? |
In the early stages of my working life, I took on a lot of work outside of my current work, which reduced my overall performance. So, I hadn’t yet learned to say no, and I was overestimating my potential.
Now I have learned to say ‘no’ when I need to, and I am fully aware of how much time I need to allocate.
What advice would you give to someone pursuing a career path like your own?
Don’t be intimidated by the Site, ask lots of questions and don’t be afraid to get dirty. Observe the workers well and even try using the tools yourself. You can’t control something if you don’t know how to do it yourself.
What’s your top strategy for success?
My priority should never be the salary, it should always be the experience. When one feeds oneself with powerful experiences, the success will come.
How do you prefer to spend your spare time?
I hold a professional captain’s license for all yachts up to 13 meters in length, valid in the waters of the Mediterranean. So, my hobbies include boating, fishing and scuba driving. I also love walks in the nature.
